President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced an investment of 12 billion pesos for the state of Colima over the next two years, earmarked for priority projects in healthcare, infrastructure, education, potable water, and social welfare programs. During her tour of the state, Sheinbaum emphasized that this funding will help drive development and well-being for the people of Colima. “Because we care so much for Colima and its people, we’re allocating a budget of 12 billion pesos over the next two to two and a half years, of which 5 billion will go to social welfare programs,” she said.
Sheinbaum detailed that the plan includes the rehabilitation of three IMSS Bienestar hospitals starting July 17, with an investment exceeding 800 million pesos, along with the construction of a new IMSS hospital in Manzanillo. In the water sector, she announced 2.1 billion pesos for the Agua para Colima program, which covers an aqueduct and agricultural irrigation projects to secure water supply for the next 50 years.
On the education front, the president confirmed the expansion of CBTIS 19 and reiterated that no school in the state will lack funding for infrastructure. She also highlighted progress in support programs such as the Rita Cetina, Benito Juárez, and Jóvenes Escribiendo el Futuro scholarships, as well as the La Escuela es Nuestra program, which will benefit 40% of Colima’s schools.
IMSS Director Zoé Robledo Aburto shared that the new Manzanillo hospital will feature 73 beds, 21 specialties, 13 consultation rooms, and is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2027. IMSS Bienestar Director Alejandro Svarch Pérez and National Water Commission head Efraín Morales López outlined the scope of the health and water infrastructure projects, while Infrastructure Secretary Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina announced that Colima will see nearly 2 billion pesos in roadworks through 2030.
Colima Governor Indira Vizcaíno Silva underscored the importance of these investments, particularly the expansion of the Port of Manzanillo, which she described as one of the most significant projects for the state’s development in the coming years.
