Rincón de Romos, Aguascalientes — President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo launched the Housing for Wellbeing Program in Aguascalientes, where 7,450 homes will be built throughout her six-year term. From this central region of Mexico, she reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring the right to dignified housing as a core part of the Fourth Transformation of public life in the country.
Sheinbaum highlighted that, nationwide, the program aims to build 200,000 new homes in 2025, which will generate approximately 600,000 formal jobs and triple that number in indirect employment. She emphasized that this is a social strategy prioritizing people’s wellbeing over profit, putting an end to the corrupt practices of the past.
In Aguascalientes, 5,000 of the planned homes will be built by Infonavit for formal sector workers, while 2,450 will be managed by Conavi for people without social security, who will receive zero-interest loans. Additionally, the president announced the freezing of four million unpayable Infonavit loans, including 73,000 in the state of Aguascalientes.
It was also reported that the national program includes 1.1 million new homes, 1.55 million housing improvement actions, and 1 million new property titles. Combined, these efforts are projected to generate 9.6 million direct jobs and 14.4 million indirect jobs.
President Sheinbaum was accompanied by federal officials and local authorities. Governor María Teresa Jiménez stated that her administration is currently developing 16 housing projects in the state, totaling more than 10,000 homes across the capital and municipalities such as Cosío, Pabellón de Arteaga, Rincón de Romos, and San Francisco de los Romo, where at least 150 additional homes will be built.
